| · General description: |
As the setting for the adventures of the illustrious hidalgo, Wine Cellar Casa de la Viña has all the charm of the large Manchego patios, which have been preserved intact despite the passing of time. Pioneers in the production of Valdepeñas wines, it was an elegant Mansion House as it was acquired by the Count of Casavaliente in 1857.
Nowadays, under the quality label of Vinos de la Tierra de Castilla , this historic estate makes strong, meaty wines, thanks to a microclimate which favours the cultivation of the Tempranillo , Cabernet Sauvignon , Merlot and Airén varieties. Bodega Casa de la Viña is surrounded by over 3,000 hectares of vineyards, one of the largest areas in cultivation in Europe.
The crop is used to make wines protected by the appellation of the Denominación de Origen Valdepeñas and bearing the Vinos de la Tierra de Castilla quality label.
The vineyards Casa de la Viña enjoys its own particular microclimate. The bodega grows the following varieties: Tempranillo (locally named Cencibel), Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Airén (the latter the autochthonous variety of the region).
The Oenologist From her base at our Casa de la Viña bodega, Guadalupe Valdés leads a team of professionals committed to squeezing all the special characteristics out of our La Mancha vineyards and give them full expression in high quality wines. |
