| Close by are natural swimming pools, especially the Garganta Alardos, with a Roman bridge, and also monuments like the Castro Veton in El Raso (celtic ruins of 4 thcentury B. C.). If you want to go a little further, you will find the Vera Extremeña with very interesting and beautiful villages and the Monasterio de Yuste. You can visit also the area of the Tietar River and Candeleda with its streets full of orange trees, and the Santuario de Nuestra Señora de Chilla, Arenas de San Pedro with the Monasterio de San Pedro de Alcántara, the Roman Road (calzada romana) in Puerto del Pico, Cuevas del Águila, the Wasp Museum (Aula Viva) in Poyales del Hoyo, etc. The whole area enjoys a special warm microclimate –that is why it is known as The Andalusia of Ávila. |
