The Estate "La Vádima del Medio", 42 Km from Salamanca, 47 from Zamora and 7 from Ledesma is the location for this Rural Lodge established in the Old Manor House, known as the "Casa Grande de La Vádima". In this "Posada Real" you will encounter the peacefulness of the Campo Charro (Salamanca's Plains) as well as the comfort and warmth of this modern rural Manor House, full of history and carefully preserved and restored for your added relaxation and enjoyment.
Regarding its architecture, "La Casa Grande de La Vádima" (The Big House of La Vádima) is first mentioned in 1796, that is during the period when it was owned by the Dominican Nuns Convent.
It was built on a levelled ground, facing the Southwest and enjoying magnificent views of meadows and holly oak forests.
When it was last refurbished, the original design and rooms distribution was respected, as well as the four halls and their fireplaces, some of them 250 years old.
There are now ten fully-equipped rooms available in which the original furniture has been kept. One of the room is single, another seven are double, and there are also two suites with an adjoined bedroom for children. All of them have en suite bathroom, heating, telephone and TV. |

Places to visit:
Ledesma, 7 km from the Hotel, features a walled citadel, a medieval bridge, the Colegiata de Sta. MŞ La Mayor (Collegiate church), and the Palace of D. Beltrán de la Cueva. There are also several restaurants offering typical local cuisine.
Zamora, 47 km away from the Hotel, is located by the river Duero. You will enjoy the City Walls and the Cathedral, both dating back to the 12th century. Within the city, there are also many churches of interest, and you will be able to sample a wide variety of gastronomical delicacies: Zamora's cheese, Aliste's Chuletón Steak and the famous Toro wines.
Dams and Reservoirs (130 km return trip), visiting the Almendra Reservoir in the river Tormes, as well as the ones in the river Duero: Aldeávila, de la Rivera and Saucelle.
Salamanca, 42 km from the Hotel, is an architectural treasure. The European Capital of Culture in 2002 houses in its old city centre the largest number of historical monuments in Castilla y León: its University, among the oldest in Europe, its two Cathedrals (one Romanesque, the other Gothic), convents, churches, palaces, among many others. Its Plaza Mayor (Main Square), is considered to be one of the finest examples in the world, and all around it you will discover tapas-bars and fine restaurants to your heart's contempt.
Arribes del Duero, (120 km return trip). Along the way, you will stop at Fermoselle, a typical village of stone buildings surrounded by terraced vineyards over the river Duero. Then, Miranda do Douro and its Cathedral. You can enjoy the promenade overlooking the river, shop at the "mercadillo" (flea market), and taste Portuguese typical dishes at its several restaurants.
Mini cruise along the River Duero, from Miranda do Douro, only 45 Km from the Hotel. The cruise includes an interesting guided tour explaining geological aspects of the gorge, as well as its flora and fauna.
Activitis:
Trekking: Walks along tracks and public footpaths to "Ermita del Dulce Nombre de Jesús", a Chapel within the premises (0,7 Km), to Moraleja de Sayago (4 Km), and to Puente Mocho and the Calzada Romana (Mocho Bridge and Ancient Roman Road, 7 Km). Botanical walk.
Two 18-hole Golf Courses only 21 Km (Campo de Zarapicos) and 37 Km (Campo de Villamayor) from the Hotel.
A cruise throught the Duero river: river crossing from Miranda do Douro (45 km). Discounts for Vádima's customers.
Thermal Pool: in Bańos de Ledesma Spa Resort (15 Km).
"Encierros" (Running of the bulls) and "tienta de vaquillas" (testing of young calves of fighting bulls), previously arranged with one of the local "ganaderías" (bull breeders).
Bird watching: Bird watching and guided tour across lagoons and marsh bush.
Fihgting bull farmworks: Guided visit to farm breeders to see the fighting bulls and cows in there natural environment. |
