Irupé Lodge is named after a rare aquatic plant of the Iberá marshlands.
The small Lodge run by a Swiss-Argentine couple offers room for 12 guests. It’s one of the few tourist Lodges in the village of Carlos Pellegrini with direct access to the lake Iberá.
Thanks to the construction on poles, it’s possible to live close to the shore with an excellent view of the lake, which ensures a relaxing environment.
All our large, rustically designed and original rooms have private bathrooms with hot water available 24 hours a day.
Ceiling ventilators, mosquito-nets and panoramic windows are for your additional comfort.
There’s no television nor frigobar in our rooms.
Restaurant and bar, designed as open air verandas in summertime, give you the feeling of being close to nature. While enjoying delicious local cuisine you can observe wildlife and listen to the sounds of the marsh. |

In the heart of Corrientes province and 1000 kilometres north of Buenos Aires you will find Esteros del Iberá, the great marshlands of Argentina.
The nature reserve, founded in the year 1983, covers over 13,000 km2 of marshes, lakes and islands.
In the year 2002 Esteros del Iberá was put on the list of reserves of fresh water systems by the Ramsar convention, especially because of the area’s unique biodiversity and the multitude of endangered plants, birds and wildlife.
Aboriginals lived, fished and hunted on the islands before the Europeans settled the lakes. In later days it was the “mariscadores” who took up these practices; today some of these men work as park rangers.
Esteros del Iberá is the place for adventurers and nature lovers. We’d like to offer you the following challenges:
Boat trips: On the lake Iberá you can do day and night safaris or full-day boat excursions to discover the hidden islands of the marshlands.
Horse riding: Sitting astride a horse, you’re sure to get a different view on the marshlands and its surroundings.
Hiking and walking: On foot is the best way to discover the tiny details of the intact nature of Iberá.
Bird watching: Thanks to Iberá’s being the home to over 300 species of birds, Colonia Carlos Pellegrini is a must for any ornithologist.
Snorkelling and fishing: Corrientes River, the only outlet of the marshlands of Iberá, is known for its wealth of fish. Here you can earn your dinner with your own patience.
Farm visits: The area of Colonia Carlos Pellegrini is mainly pasture land with large horse and cattle breeding farms.
