| · General description: |
La Escuela rural house, was the children old school for boys. Their original front, structure, stone balcony and terrace are been respected and maintained as they were, as well as the original 'castilian' grates, keeping its thick original walls (90 cm) that provide excellent isolation.
In the house rebuilding, main girders, made of chest-nut wood, are been used, as well as wooden tables for the ceiling. The roof has been covered with original clay tiles, on top of the adequate isolation and the new structure. The salon fire place is the cassette type, enclosed, with heated air exit to the salon. All the floors are made out of clay ceramics, 5 double rooms, 4 complete bathrooms with thermostatic taps, heating in every room with individual temperature control, salon with fire place; the kitchen with induction and vitroceramic fires, dish washer, microwave oven and toaster, double glass in every window and balcony, etc. to make as cozy as possible this rural house. All the rooms are external to receive natural light. |
| · Inside: |
Ground floor
Consists of the common zones: entrance, salon with fire place, the kitchen with service bar to the salon and a complete bathroom. Five windows supply natural light. There is heating in every room.
The salon includes a fire place with warm air exit to it, besides the central heating that is installed all over the house, television with DVD, MP3 and CD player. The 'bar' easies communication with the kitchen.
Five external windows insure a different light and colour every part of the day. It also includes the ground floor bathroom, that completes the house comfort.
Kitchen is accomplished with two induction and two vitroceramic fires, refrigerator, coffee machine, toaster, dish washer and microwave oven. Dishes, cutlery, water and wine glasses and cups, enough for the complete house visitors. Kitchen communicates with salon by a service bar. Our house has four complete bathrooms, with 90 cm shower plates and PVC screens, and thermostatic appliances (taps). All of them have a 1 square meter mirror, and halogen spot lights combined with fluorescent light to obtain natural light.
Ceilings are built using wood, as integrant part of the building reconstruction. Floors in every bath room are ceramic clay, as the whole house. Each bath room is tiled with different colour and tile disposition. Thermostatic taps insure water temperature stability.
The house has capacity for ten people in five rooms distributed on the two floors of the antique village School
All bedrooms and bathrooms have wooden ceilings and ceramic floors
All the rooms have windows or balconies with natural light and we have identified them with small ceramic tiles representing pictures of different old time professions: fisher, painter, musician, watermelon seller, wine maker and potter. On first floor
We have three rooms: two of them with double bed, which balconies open to the original stone balcony, and the third room has two individual beds.
On second floor
There are two rooms: one of them with double bed and the other one with two independent beds.
All the rooms have independent heating, with temperature control. Windows and balconies are double glassed to insure thermal and acoustic isolation.
There are books on many different matters in all the rooms, so visitors can read (or read again) many tittles. |

Valdesangil, is a Béjar district, only 3 km away from it, down South in Salamanca province, at the mountain and green area that composes the landscapes of Sierra de Béjar-Candelario, a ridge of mountains and the natural frontier between Castilla-León and Extremadura at the counter forts of the rockyl Sistema Central (Central System), consisting of granite outcrops.
Very few kilometers away fron Valdesangil we find:
The ski station La Covatilla, unique at the mountain sysem of Sierra de Béjar-Candelario. The picturesque village Candelario, protected historic and artistic ensemble, as well as Béjar, with its five churches, history, gastronomy and renaissance parks. The very antique Silver Way, with well preserved parts of the original roman road. Guijuelo , capital of the origin denomination of the iberian pork of Salamanca .
The Natural Partk of Sierra de Francia, with its very touristic villages (La Alberca, Mogarraz, Miranda del Castañar, etc.) and the Valley of the Batuecas including the famous monastery and prehistorics paintings.
Valdesangil, our village, is around 1040 m high, South oriented and inserted in a small valley surrounded of a granite circus with some important heights, very good to practice climbing. From above on these elevationes, is possible to see many of the villages around; this valley receives waters from a stream called Valdesangil, that shares the named with our village. |
