From the house you can enjoy the view over the Sierra Alcaide, and all around the surroundings of pretty Zagrilla are superb and unspoilt. The streets of the hamlet follow the ancient Arabic pattern, irregularly following the contours of the mountain range. Many of the villagers still do their washing at the communal "lavadero", an age-old tradition which involves simultaneous scrubbing and chatting over the ever-flowing, crystalline spring waters. In this wonderful landscape, peace is a word which readily comes to mind.
Zagrilla's location could hardly be better, as it is only ten minutes away from the lovely town of Priego de Cordoba. Apart from the wonderful countryside and delightful villages of the Subbética itself, the great historical cities of Córdoba and Granada are less than an hour away, and Sevilla is just another 30 minutes further. |
