Wingshooting:
Esquina is the ultimate wingshooting destination. It is a privileged area where various species such as pigeons (picazuru pigens, spot-winged pigeons, rock dove, eared dove), red-winged tinamou and spoted tinamou, ducks (muscovy duck, comb duck, fulvous tree duck, back-bellied tree duck, white faced tree duck, silver teal, brasilean duck) and common snipe can be found.
The hunting spots are fields of rice and corn, in streams, lakes and wild landscapes always depending on what the guides decide the best shooting point is.
The hunting season for these species it’s from the beggining of April untill the middle of November.
A normal hunting a day, is to wake up at sunrise in order to be standing at the shooting spot as soon as the first sun’s ray appears. At lunch time, the meal is ready waiting for them at the lodge and during the afternoons the shooting continues untill late afternoon when the sun goes down.
However, the access to hunting spots it’s either by boats or by pick-up trucks depending on the geography of the place. Additionally, the hunter will be provided and assisted by a bird-boy.
Hunts Bigger:
The hunting plans start very early in the mornings. At 7 a.m hunters are due to leave towards the hunting fields located 35 km. Away from Hambare, once they reach destination, they will be welcomed by different guides who will be in horses in order to cross a large area which is under water (20/30 cm. Approx.) in all with forest, lakes, rivers and so on, ( an impossible area to cross with a motor car).
Once the whole equipment is loaded, the guides will take them inwards the hunting fields where they will horse back ride around 3 or 3 hours approx. The average of hunting is of a whole day long, which means that lunch will take place in the farm.
It is a whole adventure to pass across the several lakes and rivers, leaving horses to do it by canoes and continue in the search of the best piece.
Meanwhile, in the middle of the country side are being waited by guides in order to let them know where the animals are, as most of the times, these are found in the middle of the extended land and fields of the farm and are detected by binocoulus in order to place oneself in the appropiate position for shooting.
Fishing:
Our lodge is located by the river conjunction formed by the Corriente’s river and the Parana one.
The area is surrounded by small rivers, streams, channels and islands, all together they form the perfect scenary for fishing Surubis, Pacus and the very required Dorado, which is known as the river’s tiger (El tigre del río) due to its strengh and difficulty it causes to be fished.
While fishing Dorados, it is possible to find other several kind of fishes which share the same habitat, such as Pati, Mandube, Manguruyu and Palometas. Its capture means a great achivement.
Apart from the conventional and common fishing, it is also possible to do fly cast either from the coast of the river or by boat.
Additionally, Hambare organises boat expeditions to a sand island during the whole day, which are in charged of local and expert guides who know the secrets of the river.
Fly cast in Argentina is an activity that takes place since quite a long time , even though it is very common in the south of Argentina.
This activity gains more and more fanatics every day in the warm waters of our rivers and the wide variety of fish in these rivers make up a great scenary and interesting alternative.
Day at the Farm:
45 km away from Posada Hambare, for those who love argentine traditions, can find Buena Vista, a traditional productive Farm.
It is located in an natural paradise and whoever visits it, can take part in all rural activities such as horse backriding sharing it with local gauchos, enjoying a ride in horse carriages, safari photographic, or just having a look at the hen’s habitat with all its different existing types, as well as enjoying the flora and fauna, the nature and the incredible environment which surrounds the farm.
The house is from the nineteenth century, surrounded by extended gardens and park as well as ancient trees and tropical plants, it offers first quality services, and an excellent kitchen, mostly consisting of traditional dishes from the area.
The idea is to organise a day at the farm for you and your family, leaving Hambare early in the morning. Activities proposed by Buena Vista can be done during the day, have lunch with a typical asado, have the 5 o’clock tea, and finally return to the Posada at the sunset.
The transfer is taken care by clients, reservations are done by Hambare and the day at the Farm all depends on the conditions of the sandy road to reach destination.
Cost of day at Farm for 1-3 people: $45 each. Cost of day at Farm for 4 or more: $38 each.
Sailing at the Delta:
The total Cost including the boat is $150 each boat per day. Max. capacity is 4 adults.
Water Ski:
The waters of the Corriente’s River are so calm that it is ideal to practice the most fascinating water sports such as water skiing and Wakeboarding.
The best time to do water skiing is during late afternoon when the river is absolutely flat in order to do all kind of water piruets you wish with the board. The river is absolutely safe and skiing takes place on its side parts where is quite shallow (2 meters approx.) and where there is not much current.
The boats used for this are of about 70 and 115 HP reaching a speed of 50 Km an hour.
The quasi tropical climate of Corrientes allows us to practice this sport almost all year long, being October till April the ideal period.
The cost of this is $150 per hour of ski. |

Posada Hambare is located in the heart of the argentinean Mesopotamia, one of the largest water reserve of the world, at only 580 km. from the capital of Argentina, more precisely, at the southwest of the Province of Corrientes. The nearest city from Hambare is called Esquina which is 3 km. away.
Esquina is known as the Southern entrance of the Province and it is located, as well as Hambare along the left side of the Corriente river.
In addition to this, another important aspect is that in front of the city, this river joins the Parana one giving a great and unique colour combination; the clear waters from the Corriente together with the reddish one of the Parana one. |
