Alicante (Catalan, Alacant) is a province of eastern Spain, in the southern part of the autonomous community of Valencia. It is bordered by the provinces of Murcia, Albacete, ValenciaValencia, and the Mediterranean Sea.
Its capital is Alicante. Other major towns of the province include Elche, Benidorm, Denia, Altea, Orihuela, Torrevieja, Elda, Novelda, Villena, Alcoy, Calpe. See List of municipalities in Alicante.

Alicante (Catalan: Alacant, Spanish: Alicante) is the capital city of the province of Alicante, in the Valencian autonomous region, in the south-east of Spain, by the Mediterranean Sea. Alacant is an important Seaport and the metropolitan area is 415.000.
Alicante is one of the fastest growing cities in Spain. Its economy is based upon tourism and wine production. It exports wine, olive oil, and fruit, and has light industries, including food-processing, leather, textiles, and pottery. The area's food speciality, are turrones - honey and almond nougats.
It has regular ferry services to the Balearic Islands, and an international airport is nearby. Amongst the most notable features of the city, is its castle - the Castillo de Santa Barbara, which sits high above the city upon a cliff.
The city is the headquarters of the Office for Harmonisation in the Internal Market.
Autonomous Community of Valencia Valencian Community (Valencian Comunitat Valenciana, Spanish Comunidad Valenciana) is an autonomous community (comunidad autónoma in Spanish, or, in Valencian, comunitat autònoma) in the east of Spain with three provinces: Alicante, Valencia and Castellón. It is historically known as the Kingdom of Valencia (Regne de València in Valencian, Reino de Valencia in Spanish).
Some people call the Valencian Community País Valencià (Valencian Country) though this has never been its official name.
