Cáceres is a province of western Spain, in the northern part of the autonomous community of Extremadura. It is bordered by the provinces of Salamanca, Avila, Toledo, and Badajoz, and by Portugal.
Its capital is the city of Cáceres. Other cities in the province include Plasencia.
With a diverse climate, it has high temperatures in the summer and very low temperatures in the winter.
Set atop a hill to the south of the Tagus River is the capital of the province. With a long, rich history dating back to Roman times, Caceres boasts numerous monuments. In addition, the historic quarter of the city has been declared a World Heritage site.
Two other cities of interest are Trujillo and Guadalupe, whose monastery was also declared a World Heritage site. |
