The province of León has an abundance of natural, artistic and sports attractions. It has ski resorts and a rich and varied fauna. In addition, there are miles and miles of rivers for fishing.
The province capital is a historic city rich in art. Its outstanding cathedral boasts fine sculptures, and behind the walls of the Basílica de San Isidro the Spanish Romanesque “Capilla Sixtina” can be found. The Casa de los Botines and the Palacio Episcopal in Astorga, built by Gaudí, are also well worth visiting.
A stroll through the streets near the Plaza Mayor, a neighborhood know as "El Húmedo", is highly recommended. There, you'll find bars and restaurants scattered throughout the area where you can try some of the region's best dishes. |
